:: About the band L'Arc~en~Ciel

The story of L'Arc~en~Ciel (known as L'aruku for short), began way back in February 1991, when Tetsuya Ogawa (L'aruku bassist) recruited vocalist hyde, guitarist hiro and drummer pero to form the earliest form of the band.
The name L'Arc~en~Ciel derived from a french film of the same name. Despite proving popular in their hometown of Osaka, two of the band members left the group, Hiro in June 12 1992 and Pero in December of the same year. To keep the band going testu decided to try and recruit his friend Ken Kitamura (ken), who was already studying architecural design.
To complete the newly reformed group, drummer Yasunori Sakurazawa was recruited after impressing tetsu in a few live shows. The lowest point for the band, was the arrest of drummer Sakura for heroin possession, who later quit the band in October 1997. The arrest resulted in negative publicity for the band and resulted in a drop in popularity amongst the public. A new drummer was recruited, Yukihiro.
